IMCrypto

IMCrypto 1.01 is an encryption application for instant messengers. Not all the messengers are supported; currently, only ICQ and Yahoo Messenger 8.x and 9.x seem to work.

IMCrypto works by establishing a secure connection between you and the other contact. A request for such a secure connection is sent and has to be accepted by the other party. Also, your contact has to have IMCrypto installed in order for the connection to be secure at all. This all works thanks to the use of pair keys. Your client sends a pair of keys that are needed in order to decrypt the messages. The other client decrypts the message and encrypts the response using the same key. To activate a secure line, you need to open the contact window in your messenger by double clicking the contact and open the IMCrypto toolbar. From there you are given the settings to set it up. Also, the free version of IMCrypto only supports one contact. But it is free. The application will not expire, it will just work with one contact. Also, you can only select one Instant Messenger during the installation for the application to work on.
